Comments: A massmailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to email itself to all the contacts in the MSN Messenger, Yahoo Pager, and in the files whose extensions are .htm or .dbx

Symptoms:


 Creates a file Media.Temp.Mpeg in %Temp% directory and attempts to
open Windows Media Player to play it. 
 Add the values: .exe %System%.exe (default) %Windir%TEMPORY.exe to
the registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunServices 
 Delete the values: NPROTECT ccApp ScriptBlocking MCUpdateExe
VirusScan Online MCAgentExe VSOCheckTask PCClient.exe PCCIOMON.exe
pccguide.exe PccPfw tmproxy McAfeeVirusScanService NAV Agent
PCCClient.exe SSDPSRV Taskmon KasperskyAv system. msgsvr32 Windows

Recommended Cleanup Software: We found that Easy SpyRemover is the most effective tool for removing this file.

Manual Removal Instructions: Download the updated virus definitions using the Intelligent Updater, but do not install them.
Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Restart the computer in Safe Mode or VGA mode.
Reverse the changes that the worm made to the registry.
Start your Symantec antivirus software. If it does not start or properly function, re-install it.
Install the Intelligent Updater virus definitions you downloaded in step 1.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.Blackmal@mm.
