Comments: A worm that also overwrites files and infects Microsoft Word documents. Mass mails itselfto all the recipients in the Outlook Address Book.

Symptoms:


 Overwrites files that have the .scr, .com, or .exe extensions. Also
creates the file C:xxxpasswords.doc, which contains the macro virus
W97M.Pacol.A. And adds the value: inet       c:windowssysteminet.exe 
 to the registry key.

Recommended Cleanup Software: We found that Easy SpyRemover is the most effective tool for removing this file.

Manual Removal Instructions: Obtain the most recent virus definitions. There are two ways to do this:
Start Norton AntiVirus (NAV), and make sure that NAV is configured to scan all files.
Run a full system scan.
Delete all files that are detected as W32.Alcarys.B@mm. Restore overwritten files from abackup copy.
